Emulsogen LCN 287 is a nonionic emulsifier for emulsion polymerization & compatibilizer for tinted waterborne coatings
Emulsogen LCN 287 is used as a nonionic emulsifier for the emulsion polymerization of monomers like acrylates, styrene-acrylates, styrene-butadiene, and vinyl acetate. 
Emulsogen LCN 287 improves the shear, temperature and electrolyte stability of polymer dispersions. 
The recommended usage of Emulsogen LCN 287 is 1-3% active based on monomers.

Emulsogen LCN 287 also acts as wetting agent/compatibilizer in waterborne acrylic lacquers (low PVC). 
The general dosage of Emulsogen LCN 287 (supply form) for this purpose is 1.4%-2.1%. 
Emulsogen LCN 287 is suitable for low odor paints applying for eco-labels such as Blue Angel or Ecoflower.

Product Description: Emulsogen EPN 287 is used in polymerization of vinyl acetate together with other vinyl esters, acrylates, vinyl chloride and ethylene, for acrylic and styrene / acrylic dispersions and for butadiene / styrene latex. 
The use of Emulsogen EPN 287 reduces coagulation and improves electrolyte resistance and freeze/thaw stability.
Emulsogen EPN 287 is added either during or after polymerization. 
Emulsogen EPN 287 is also used in pigment preparations, paints and coatings as dispersing and wetting agent.

It has been shown that emulsifiers of Emulsogen LCN-287 and OS-20 grades are the most effective for preparing ED-20 resin-based emulsions and the emulsifier Emulsogen LCN-287, for preparing resins NPEL 127, NPEL 128, CHS-EPOXY 520, CHS-EPOXY 530. 
The optimum concentration of resins in emulsions is 60 wt % and the optimum concentration of emulsifiers Emulsogen LCN-287 and OS-20 is 1×10–2 and 5×10–3 M, respectively. 
The prepared emulsions are polydisperse (0.1–250 μm, the predominant fraction is 0.1–5 μm) and are characterized by relatively low stability (no more than 7–12 days), the time of their complete settling is 10–20 days. 

It was found that ED-20 resin and H2O–ED-20 system emulsions are structured non-Newtonian liquid-like systems, the studied imported resins are Newtonian fluids, and emulsions based on them are non-Newtonian fluid. 
The presence of polymer microparticles improves the stability of emulsions during storage. 
The most stable are emulsions stabilized with an aqueous acrylic-methacrylic polymer dispersion.
