CAS Number: 102-71-6
Hostacor IT is a corrosion inhibitor for metal working fluids.
Hostacor IT is water-soluble corrosion inhibitor.
Hostacor IT is a pre-neutralized, low foaming corrosion inhibitor mainly used in cutting & grinding fluids, in rolling emulsions and water-based hydraulic fluids (HFA-E, HFA-S).
Hostacor IT is an excellent corrosion inhibitors for steel and show very good hard water stability.
Hostacor IT can be used alone or in combination with other water-soluble corrosion inhibitors or lubricants.
Benefits of Hostacor IT:
-Excellent corrosion protection of steel
-Reduces copper and cobalt leaching
-Low foaming
-Hard-water stable
-Boron free
-Free of secondary amines
-Pre-neutralized
Applications of Hostacor IT:
Hostacor IT is used alone or in combination with other water-soluble corrosion inhibitors and lubricants in cutting and grinding fluids and in aqueous hydraulic systems.
The prefered application of Hostacor IT is machining of ferrous metals.
Since Hostacor IT is a weakly aklaline alkanolamine salt, the addition of suitable inhibitors is recommended for the machining of non-ferrous metals and aluminium.
Composition of Hostacor IT:
alkanolamine salt of an acylamidocarboxylic acid
Product properties of Hostacor IT:
Active content: approx. 85 %
Appearance / 20 °C: yellow, clear, viscous liquid
Ionicity: anionic
Solubility of Hostacor IT:
clearly soluble in water, glycols and alkanolamines,
insoluble in hydrocarbons
Hard water stability of Hostacor IT:
stable against the water hardness up to at least 1050
ppm CaCO3 (corresponds to 60 °dH)
Storage behaviour of Hostacor IT:
Hostacor IT is darkening during storage, the colour is changing to red brown.
This does not affect the application properties of Hostacor IT.
Hostacor IT is sensitive to frost.
If Hostacor IT becomes opaque, thick or frozen due to the effect of cold, it can be thawed slowly at room temperature and used again after short stirring.
Foaming behaviour of Hostacor IT:
Hostacor IT is a low foaming product.
Hostacor IT can normally be used without addition of defoamer.
When making formulations based on Hostacor IT, it is important to ensure that all mixing equipment have been properly cleaned.
Traces of surfactant can result in a markedly higher tendency to foam.

Hostacor IT is an excellent corrosion inhibitor and shows good hard water stability.
To improve lubrication and to minimize foaming, the combination of Hostacor IT with EO/PO-mixpolymers like Genapol B, Genapol PN 30 or Genapol PS is recommended.
Suitable mixing ratio:
-10 – 50 % Genapol B, Genapol PN 30 or Genapol PS
-90 – 50 % Hostacor IT
