Description of Melapur M 200:
Melapur M 200 decomposes endothermically above 350ºC, acting as a heat sink to cool the polymer. 
The released phosphoric acid further reacts with the polymer to form a char and inhibit the release of free radical gasses into the oxygen phase. 

Simultaneously, nitrogen species released from the degradation of melamine intumesces the char to further protect the polymer. 
Melapur M 200 based halogen free flame retardants are primarily used for glass fiber reinforced polyamide and polyester (e.g. PBT) and can be used as a synergist in many other applications and polymers.

Melapur M 200 is a melamine based halogen free flame retardant for glass fiber reinforced polyamide 66 and suitable to use in thermosetting, thermoplastic formula, especially PUR and also be widely used in PBT, PET, PA.

Melapur M 200 is a nitrogen-phosphate composite flame-retardant, melamine polyphosphate was prepared through a simpler, less energy-consuming and environment-friendly synthesis method compared with the conventional one. 
The obtained Melapur M 200 was characterized by Fourier Transform Infrared spectra (FT-IR) and solid-state NMR, and the conversion ratio was determined through the weight-loss caused by the ammonia release during the condensation. 

Glass fiber-reinforced polyamide 66 was flame retarded by this synthesized MPP, and the combustion and charring behavior were investigated. 
Additionally, the practical flame retardance including UL94 vertical burning test and Limiting Oxygen Index measurement were conducted for the comparison with the existing commercial MPP system.

To obtain Melapur M 200 useful as a flame-retardant not generating water in its kneading with a resin at a high temperature by heat- treating melamine orthophosphate, and to provide a method for industrially producing melamine polyphosphate. 
An equimolar reaction product between melamine and orthphosphoric acid is heat-treated at 260-320 deg.C to efficiently obtain melamine polyphosphate having no decomposition in a temperature zone lower than the maximum endothermic peak in the vicinity of 380 deg.C±10 deg.C when measured at 10 deg.C/minute rate of heating by a differential thermal analysis.

Melapur M 200 was applied as reactive and additive flame retardant for thermally resistant polyurethane foams. 
Melapur M 200 was hydroxyalkylated with ethylene and propylene carbonates to get oligoetherols with 1,3,5-triazine ring and phosphorus. 

The structure and physical properties of the products were studied. 
The polyurethane foams, PUFs obtained from this oligoetherols were self-distinguishing. 

The addition of powdered Melapur M 200 into foaming mixture resulted in further decrease of flammability modified PUFs. 
The Melapur M 200-modified PUFs were characterized by physical methods adequate to thermal resistance and flammability of the PUFs.
