Orgal HT 465 is a hydrophobically modified alkali swellable (HASE) type anionic thickener.
Orgal HT 465 is designed to give a lower cost alternative to cellulosic thickeners.
The major area of Orgal HT 465 applications is mainly indoor / outdoor matt emulsion paints.
However, Orgal HT 465 may also be used for thickening other latex compounds for textiles, carpet, paper, etc.
In the emulsion paint formulations, Orgal HT 465 can be used in combination with cellulosic thickeners or alone.
Orgal HT 465 provides paints with excellent roller spattering resistance and resistance to microbe and enzyme attack.
Ease of incorporation and the possibility of post addition are other advantages using Orgal HT 465.
Orgal HT 465 has a very pseudoplastic rheology, high in-can structure and good sag resistance.
TYPICAL PROPERTIES of Orgal HT 465:

APPLICATION PROPERTIES
Viscosity of Orgal HT 465 is developed by neutralization to a pH of 7.0 to 10.0.
The thickener ,Orgal HT 465, can be added to the millbase, to the letdown or as a post addition if the medium is sufficiently alkaline and if sufficient mixing is available.
Additional base is used to adjust pH.
The prediluted and neutralized form could be added as well.
The amount needed in paint formulations must be determined by lab trials, eventhough Orgal HT 465 can be stated that the usual practice is to use between 0,4 - 1,0% either alone or in combination with cellulosics.
In all cases, Orgal HT 465 is recommended to add Orgal HT 465 diluted 1:1 with water.
PRODUCT HANDLING – STORAGE – SHELFLIFE
To ensure safe storage of this emulsion, containers should be well sealed to prevent the water evaporation and skin forming.
The emulsion must be stored between 5 - 25°C for a maximum of 12 months and freezing must be avoided.
Anionic acrylic thickener, Orgal HT 465, which is a hydrophobically modified alkali swellable emulsion (HASE).
The liquid form of Orgal HT 465 thickeners is a major advantage over dry powder forms of cellulose thickeners.
Orgal HT 465 is a cheaper and high performance alternative to cellulose thickeners for matte latex paints for interior and exterior use.
Orgal HT 465 can also be used in other latex compositions, in the manufacture of textiles, paper, nonwovens, etc.
In emulsion paints, Orgal HT 465 can be used together with cellulose thickener or alone.
Orgal HT 465 thickener with highly pseudoplastic rheology, its use significantly reduces sagging
ADVANTAGES of Orgal HT 465:
Orgal HT 465 is compatibility with binder dispersions of various types;
Orgal HT 465 is compatibility with other thickeners.
Aqueous dispersion of highly carboxylated sparsely crosslinked acrylic copolymer, free of plasticizers, stabilized with anionic and nonionic surfactants.
