Plurafac grades are fatty alcohol alkoxylates.
They are petrochemical sourced and they are low foaming nonionic surfactants.
They consist of alkoxylated, predominantly unbranched fatty alcohols, and they contain higher alkene oxides alongside ethylene oxide.
The fatty alcohol chains of some Plurafac types terminate in an alkyl group.
Their most important properties are wetting, low-foaming or even defoaming.

Properties of Plurafac LF-900:
Plurafac LF types consist of alkoxylated, predominantly unbranched fatty alcohols.
Besides ethylene oxide, they contain higher alkene oxides.
The fatty alcohol chains of Plurafac LF 031, 131, 132, 231 and 431 terminate in an alkyl group.
Plurafac LF 1430 is a special alkoxylate.
Plurafac LF types are clear or slightly turbid liquids.
They may experience a pH drop during storage, but this does not affect their performance.
Resolution of Plurafac LF-900:
The resolution of Plurafac LF types increases in line with the blur points.
Products with a cloud point below room temperature; They can be prepared by adding solvents such as alcohols, glycols or sodium cumene sulfonate to form clear solutions.
Plurafac LF-900 is a low foaming nonionic surfactant.

Viscosity of Plurafac LF-900:
Plurafac LF-900 is recommended to add surfactant to the water when preparing aqueous solutions of Plurafac LF.
The viscosity of solutions prepared with an inverse application can be extremely high at certain concentrations.
Plurafac LF types are compatible with non-ionic surfactants.
Plurafac LF types can also be used in combination with anionic and cationic surfactants.
Plurafac LF-900 does not react with Ca, Mg or any other in hard water, it does not react with soluble alkali salts, anionic polymers such as carboxymethyl cellulose or Sokalan CA and PA varieties.
Products in the range that terminate in a hydroxyl group; Resistant to formaldehyde, chlorine compounds, phosphates, silicates, soda ash, hydrochloric acid, phosphoric acid, citric acid and most other alkalis and acids.
This also applies to the Plurafac LF 1430.
Those terminated with an alkyl group are resistant to strong alkalis, such as those used in detergents for bottle washing machines.
Hydroxyl-terminated Plurafac LF types may gradually turn yellow in medium alkaline formulations over extended periods at increasing temperatures, but this has no effect on detergency and foaming characteristics.
Yellowing can be avoided in powder dishwashing detergents by adding these surfactants to the phosphates and carbonates before other substances such as sodium meta silicate, sodium hydroxide and a soluble dichloro isocyanurate are added.
All hydroxyl-terminated Plurafac LF types are resistant to acids, but for strongly acidic solutions, Plurafac LF 220, 221 and 711 are most suitable for use.
Foaming of Plurafac LF-900:
Nonionic surfactants are renowned for their high detergency, wetting power and soil dispersal capacity.
But the distinguishing feature of Plurafac LF types is that they form very little foam.
Some of these products can even be used to stop foam formation.
Foam formation can often be a problem in cleaning processes involving intense mechanical action.
Plurafac LF-900 is difficult to predict the foaming behavior of these surfactants with standard test methods, due to the influence of the type of soil, the type of machine, different temperature settings, and the influence of other substances in the formulation.
Alkaline resistant Plurafac LF types for bottle washing
The amount of alkali in alkaline cleaners plays an important role in determining their foaming behavior.
The higher the alkaline concentration, the less foam is produced at low temperature.
This is important when the washer is started at a scroll start.
The amount of NaOH consumed during the cleaning process has to be replenished.
Scope of application of Plurafac LF-900:
These Plurafac LF types are very low foaming nonionic surfactants.
They are used in detergents and cleaners where foaming must be kept to a minimum.
They can be used in powder, paste or liquid products.
The most important products in this category are detergents for domestic and commercial dishwashing machines, rinse aids, detergents for bottle washing machines and cleaners for dairy and breweries.
Plurafac LF types can be used as surfactants and defoamers in laundry detergents.
Plurafac LF 031:
Plurafac LF 031 is very resistant to alkalis and is a very effective wetting agent at temperatures up to 70 o C.
Plurafac LF 031's most important application is technical cleaners and textile aids.
Foam formation can be controlled by adding Plurafac LF 224 or 403.
Plurafac LF 120:
Plurafac LF 120 is a very effective wetting agent.
Main application areas; dishwashing detergents, industrial cleaners, and spray cleaners for metals.
Plurafac LF 120 is also used in phosphating baths and cleaners used in food processing machines.
Plurafac LF 120 can be used together with Plurafac LF 403 in very low foaming detergent formulations.
Plurafac LF 120 is also recommended as a wetting agent for treating bulk stacks.
Plurafac LF 220:
Plurafac LF 220 is a hydrophilic surfactant mainly used in technical cleaners and rinsing aids for glass.
Plurafac LF 220 can be used in combination with LF 221 and 405 to improve their wetting power, water dispersibility and raise cloud points.
Plurafac LF 221:
Plurafac LF 221 is used in rinse aids for domestic and institutional dishwashers, alone or in combination with other Plurafac LF types.
Plurafac LF's high wetting power combined with its low sudsing tendency is particularly effective in technical cleaners.
Plurafac LF 221 is resistant to strong acids.
Plurafac LF 223:
Very low foaming surfactant where high dirt (soil) dispersal capacity is required, especially as tank and pipeline cleaners
