Pluriol A…E grades are used as feedstock in the production of comb polymers, which are applied as dispersing agents and plasticizers for concrete.
Pluriol A 500 E low diol content prevents unwanted side reactions.
Pluriol A 500 E also used to modify the chain length of polyurethanes.
Pluriol A....E types:
Pluriol A 500 E consist of methylpolyethylene glycol and conform to the general formula CH3O(CH2CH2O)nH.
Synonyms are polyethylene glycol monomethylether and methoxypolyethylene glycol.
The various products in the range differ according to their degree of polymerization n, and the average molar mass is indicated by the numeric product designation.
Pluriol A 350 E and A 500 E are clear, colourless liquids at 23 °C.
Products with a molar mass of approx. 750 or greater have a solid consistency at 23 °C.
They are supplied either in liquid form in heated road tankers or as cast solids in drums.
The Pluriol A....E types are easy to dissolve in water, and hard water has no effect on their solubility.
The Pluriol A....E types with a low molar mass are readily soluble in alcohols, but their solubility gradually decreases as their molar mass increases.
Most of the Pluriol A....E types are soluble in aromatic solvents, but they are virtually insoluble in aliphatic hydrocarbons and mineral oils.
Pluriol A 500 E is used as feedstock in the production of comb polymers, which are applied as dispersing agents and plasticizers for concrete.

The Pluriol A….P types consist of butylpolypropylene glycol.
They have the formula R-O[CH2(CH3)CHO]nH.
The Pluriol A….P types are clear, colourless liquids at 23 °C.
They are insoluble in water, but they are soluble to a limited extent in mineral oil.
-Pluriol A....PE types
The Pluriol A....PE types are alkylpolyalkylene glycol copolymers that conformto the formula Bu-O[(CH2CH2O)(CH2(CH3)CHO)]nH.
The Pluriol A….PE types are clear, colourless liquids.
They are soluble in water, alcohols and aromatic solvents but they are virtually insoluble in aliphatic hydrocarbons and mineral oils.
-Pluriol A...R types
The Pluriol A 10 R, Pluriol A 46 R and Pluriol A 750 R are reactive alkoxylates of allyl alcohol.
They contain one hydroxyl group per molecule.
These products are supplied in the form of a clear, colourless liquid.
They are soluble in water and alcohols, but they are virtually insoluble in hydrocarbons and mineral oil.
-Pluriol A....TE types
The Pluriol A....TE types are trifunctional polyethylene glycols based on trimethylolpropane or Glycerine.
Each molecule contains three hydroxyl groups that are able to participate in a variety of chemical reactions, especially esterification.
Pluriol A 3 TE is a clear, virtually colourless liquid at room temperature.
Pluriol A 3 TE is distinguished by its very low monoethylene, diethylene and triethylene glycol content.
Pluriol A…PE grades are EO/PO copolymers with a single terminal alkyl group.
Pluriol A…PE grades are soluble in water and they have a low viscosity in spite of their high molar mass.
Pluriol A…PE grades have an excellent lubricating ability.
Pluriol A…PE grades are nonionic, which allows them to be used in combination with anionic and cationic additives.
Pluriol A…TE grades are trifunctional polyethylene glycols based on trimethylolpropane or glycerine.
Each molecule contains three hydroxyl groups which are able to participate in a variety of chemical reactions, especially in esterification.
Triacrylic and trimethacrylic esters of the Pluriol A...TE grades can be used as crosslinking agents in the production of super absorbers or as reactive diluents in UV-curing coatings.
In addition Pluriol A…TE grades are applied in formulations used in the textile industry, for example as non wetting additives for processing cotton.
Pluriol A…R grades are reactive alkoxylates and diols based on allyl alcohol or butyne-1,4-diol.
Pluriol A…R grades can be copolymerized readily with other products.
Furthermore Pluriol A…R grades are suitable as reactive components in additional reactions.
All Pluriol A … R grades have a low conductivity
Pluriol A…VP types have an excellent plasticizing ability.
Pluriol A…VP types are therefore very effective for use as building block for aqueous polymerdispersions and provide an excellent film formation of the final application e. of paints and binders for the coatings industry (especially industrial and automotive coatings).
Pluriol A…VP types are used in the formulations of binder manufacturers and manufacturers of industrial and automotive coatings.
Pluriol A…VP types are low-odour plasticizers respectively coalescent solvents with a low VOC content.
Pluriol A…VP types have a good compatibility with a very wide range of binders and polymers.
Pluriol A…VP types are virtually salt-free and non-volatile.
Pluriol E grades are water-soluble polyethylene glycols.
Pluriol E grades consist of a versatile range of products.
Depending on their molar mass, Pluriol E grades can be applied as solubilizers, plasticizers, binders, humectants, lubricants, dispersing agents, and mould-release agents.
Pluriol E grades are used to modify the consistency of liquids and to impregnate materials.
Pluriol E grades can also be applied as organic intermediates in the manufacture of polyesters and polyurethanes and more.
The Pluriol E grades are supplied in solid, paste and liquid form.
The solid products are available in powder form, flakes, or cast solids in order to suit the particular requirements.
Pluriol P grades are used in a wide variety of processes in the chemical and allied industries.
Depending on their molar mass, polypropylene glycols can have a foam-suppressing, lubricating, and a mould-release ability.
Pluriol P grades can be converted into monoesters, diesters, ethers, acetals, and polyurethanes.
Pluriol P grades find applications as heat-transfer fluids, refrigerants, hydraulic fluids, and solubilizers, and they can be used to modify the consistency of other liquids.
Pluriol P grades are also excellent dispersing agents for pigments.
Storage of Pluriol A types:
a) The Pluriol A types should be stored indoors in a dry place.
Storerooms must not be overheated.
b) The Pluriol A types are hygroscopic, and care needs to be taken to exclude moisture.
Drums must be resealed each time they are opened.
c) The storage temperature should not be allowed to fall substantially below 20 °C, and should not be allowed to fall below the melting point if at all possible.
d) The Pluriol A types must be blanketed with nitrogen if they are stored in heated tanks (at 50 – 80 °C) to prevent them from coming into contact with air.
Constant, gentle stirring helps to prevent them being discoloured as a result of prolonged contact with electrical elements or external heating coils.
Materials The following materials can be used for tanks and drums:
a) AISI 321 stainless steel (X6 CrNiTi 1810)
b) AISI 316 Ti stainless steel (X6CrNiMoTi17122)
Shelf life:
The Pluriol A types have a shelf life of at least two years in their original packaging, provided they are stored properly and drums are kept tightly sealed.
Safety:
We know of no ill effects that could have resulted from using the Pluriol A types for the purpose for which they are intended and from processing them in accordance with current practice.
According to the experience we have gained over many years and other information at our disposal, the Pluriol A types do not exert any harmful effects on health, provided that they are used properly, due attention is given to the precautions necessary for handling chemicals, and the information and advice given in our safety data sheets are observed.
