ROCIMA 551

ROCIMA 551 is a combination of methylisothiazolinone and dithio-methylbenzamide. 
ROCIMA 551 is free of halogenated compounds, formaldehyde and formaldehyde releasers and does not contribute to VOC or AOX of the finished product. 
ROCIMA 551 is used for paints, plasters, binder dispersions and other technical products. 

ROCIMA 551 combines environmental acceptability with effective preservation and shows a very good compatibility. 
ROCIMA 551 displays a broad range of activity against all types of gram-positive and gram-negative, aerobic and anaerobic bacteria as well as molds and yeasts which are commonly encountered in the wet stage protection of technical materials.

Description of ROCIMA 551:
ROCIMA 551 Biocide is a novel combination of active substances with a broad range of activity against bacteria as well as yeasts and molds. 
ROCIMA 551 is a universal in-can preservative for paints, plasters, binder dispersions, adhesives and other technical products.

ROCIMA 551 is free of halogenated compounds, formaldehyde and formaldehyde releasers and does not contribute to VOC or AOX of the finished product.
ROCIMA 551 is an aqueous, fluid dispersion which is easy to handle, meter and incorporate and a good compatibility in paint and binder systems. 

Composition and Technical Data of ROCIMA 551:
Composition: Combination of methylisothiazolinone and dithio-methylbenzamide.

Compatibility of ROCIMA 551:
ROCIMA 551 shows in general a very good compatibility even after undiluted addition. 
A series of experiments have shown that viscosity and color of finished products preserved with ROCIMA 551 do not change. 

Stability of ROCIMA 551:
Temperature: up to 50°C (short period to 80°C),
pH range: 3 to 11

Application and Activity of ROCIMA 551:
ROCIMA 551 combines environmental acceptability with effective preservation. 
ROCIMA 551 shows generally a very good compatibility and can be used in a wide range of products such as paints, plasters, adhesives, latex emulsions, tackifiers, mineral slurries, pigment dispersions and other technical, water based products.
ROCIMA 551 is an aqueous, pumpable dispersion and can be added easily by stirring in during any step of the formulation process.

ROCIMA 551 contains neither halogenated nor cationic or phenolic substances and is free of formaldehyde and formaldehyde releasers. 
Therefore, ROCIMA 551 is particularly suited for use in products not readily compatible with these substances. 
ROCIMA 551 does not contribute to VOC or AOX of the finished product.

ROCIMA 551 displays a broad range of activity against all types of gram-positive and gram-negative, aerobic and anaerobic bacteria as well as molds and yeasts which are commonly encountered in the wet stage protection of technical materials.
The number of technical products being preserved with ROCIMA 551 is increasing steadily and it is not always possible to predict its suitability. 
The optimum use of ROCIMA 551 should be established by preliminary studies.

Dosage of ROCIMA 551:
The optimum dosage rate of ROCIMA 551 Biocide depends upon the degree of contamination and the susceptibility of the product to be preserved. 
Occasionally, the degree of contamination exhibits seasonal fluctuation, so that a periodical determination of germ counts can assist in choosing the optimum dosage rate.
The typical use of ROCIMA 551 concentration ranges between 0.10 – 0.20%.

Handling of ROCIMA 551:
The processing and use of industrial chemicals require adequate technical and professional knowledge.
In general, avoid eye and skin contact, wear safety goggles, gloves and protective clothing.
In case of eye or skin contact despite precautionary measures, wash immediately and thoroughly with plenty of warm water and obtain medical attention.
The legal requirements prevailing in your country, especially on working hygiene and in the avoidance of accidents, must be observed. 

Storage of ROCIMA 551:
ROCIMA 551 should be stored at room temperature in tightly closed original containers, protected from heat and frost.
Any supplies which do freeze must be homogeneously mixed after thawing before they can be used. 
Bioactivity is unaffected by freezing and thawing.

ROCIMA 551 is a biocidal product intended for use in accordance with Product Type 6 (In-Can preservation) of the Biocidal Products Directive 98/8/EC (BPD).
